Working then Whining

I’ve been working midnight to 8:30am shifts lately at Boudin. Which have been killer ! I have FOMO, which means I don’t like sleeping during the day. I miss out on everything that’s happening !

Can’t wait until I am a little more part time and I get a little more sleep during the night .

But until then, these cute little visitors make it not so bad!

Nephews : Sam and Roland

A quick outfit change and it was onto Napa!

((One of us is pregnant. ))

A good day.

Obsessed then Depressed

The past couple days I have been in a frenzy.

I realized Josh Groban’s concert at Mondavi was THIS Saturday.

(Side note: The Mondavi Winery is so much fun to have a concert. It is outside, you bring your blankets and ice chest & have a picnic! Plus you get to listen to great music – and with only about 200 people allowed in it feels very intimate. I love it.)

Well, there are NO tickets available anywhere. Not at the Mondavi web-sight. Not on craigslist. Nada.

I even saw someone on craigslist saying they were willing to pay $500 for TWO tickets. Crazy!

The radio station I had planned on winning them from…well, I didn’t… And today was the final attempt at winning some tickets. But my luck seemed to have run out and I sat down to eat a big bowl of ice cream

If you don’t know who Josh Groban is, you need to.

101 in 1,001

Yes, I did it. I made a list of 101 things I want to get done, in a 1,001 day time-frame. Thanks to Shannon. She created one and got myself and my twin hooked. It’s motivation to get things done! There’s an end date people. A reason why it needs to be done NOW, instead of watching another New Girl episode while on facebook. So, here’s my list… (Oh, and an FYI — it.takes.forever. to think up 101 things that you want to get done while still being realistic of the 2.5 year time frame that you have. Sure, I can think up a 100 things I want to do, but if everyone of them involves traveling, buying, or being an extra in an episode of How I met Your Mother , it wont get done.)

Bread-Day Monday!

Today I made bread with Mr M @ B.Restaurant.

Its my new favorite thing!

Burger Buns, about to be baked in the oven.

(These burger buns, although look sweet, are temperamental. For some reason they dont want to look like the puffy cloud-like buns as seen in the above picture. Instead, they want to be flat, disk-like pucks. Not cute.)

Bread is difficult. There is NO room for error.

Or silly mistakes.

And I feel like I am the definition of silly mistakes.

Example #1:

I was loading the baguette dough into the oven today.

And when you are doing that, you have to be FAST when sliding the unbaked baguettes off of the paddle (called a “peel”) into the oven. If you arent quick, the dough turns crooked. And your nice baguette is now the letter “J”.

And that is ugly.

Well, today I told Mr.M that I could do it.

I had done it before – easy.

Weelll..as i was unloading the dough off of my peel-stick, I somehow managed to drag one of the baguettes out of the oven – and onto the floor.

Don’t do that.

Example #2

8 + 4 does NOT equal 15

Example #3

Don’t go to the bathroom – and forget that- you have bread almost done in the oven. You will burn it.

More examples to come, I’m sure..

Making Sense

Sometimes, what you want the most doesnt happen,

and what you least expect, happens.

So for the past few months, I have not been happy at E.Restaurant.

I had been wondering why, trying to be content at E.Restaurant, trying to find ANOTHER job, trying to find out where God wanted me at.

I have been looking for nanny-jobs nearby, and abroad. I wanted to stay close by, because I had been really excited about moving in with my sister (twweeeedle!). But nothing was becoming available (at least, nothing I was especially EXCITED to do..). I had applied to a dozen or so “nanny/au pair abroad” programs. A couple nanny job options seemed promising, I was excited, but then they fell flat (either logic and/or a realization…).

After a specifically horrifying day at E.Restaurant I decided I would rather give my two weeks and still be looking for a job, then to continue working there.

I told my pastry chef, and she understands. She had wanted to “leave” also, but I had a feeling my desire to leave was stronger than hers. And she might not be as motivated as I was.

But at least she’s on my side.

Weelll, look who messaged me saying he gave his two weeks! None other than Mr S.

And guess who called me, the next day, begging me to help him out. Mr Jefe! The boss-man @ B.Restaurant!

I dont know WHY in the world he hadnt pinned down someone for pastry, (he was really busy and has other stressful priorities that were greater?) after the previous pastry person gave his two weeks. But that previous pastry guy had his last day on Sunday.

And as of that moment, at 4:45pm on Monday, they only had an extern working pastry @ nights. Who only had less than 3 weeks experience. And was leaving in two weeks.

And at that moment, peace.

Napa, here I come!

I felt like B.Restaurant was the answer. It was perfect timing (Mr S was leaving), I wanted out of E.Restaurant, and a job that wasnt tooooo permanent. Plus, a bonus was that I was helping him out – and he owed me. Big time.

Which pretty much means I have control over my schedule. And my vacations I want to take. And when I want to leave (if I ever get a nanny job..).

The only negative? Gas is closing in on $4 a gallon.

Oh, and that Dolphy (my car)  is in the repair shop.. So I have to drive my mom’s minivan.
