Mosque the Grand

Abu Dhabi, UAE

{ Abu Dhabi is the capital and the second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and also capital of the largest of the UAE’s seven member emirates. }

Is it sad that after a year and a half of being in the desert, I finally made it out to Abu Dhabi?

Did I mention it’s just a short 45 minute drive.

Anyways, our reason for the trip wasn’t for the mosques, Yas Island, or the ATM that spits out gold.

It was because of Star Wars.

They are filming in Abu Dhabi and the roomie and I decided we would make great extra’s.

There was only one problem – we didn’t know where they were filming. And as it turned out, it was harder then we had thought to figure out. Even though we never set eyes on the filming location, it was an adventure and I loved it!

The highlight of our trip?

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosuqe

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates and is considered to be the key for worship in the country

“This architectural work of art is one the world’s largest mosques, with a capacity for an astonishing 40,000 worshippers.”

Before entering the Mosque, we were required to take our shoes off.

“It features 82 domes, over a 1,000 columns, 24 carat gold gilded chandeliers and the world’s largest hand knotted carpet. “

Standing underneath one of the chandeliers.

Kimmy is a stunner.

And she rocked her abaya!

Oh, you know. Just taking pictures in the bathroom.

Because everything here was beautiful. (even the bathroom!)

Man, it was pretty.

Capetown, South Africa

Cape Town is the second-most populous city in South Africa, after Johannesburg, and the provincial capital and primate city of the Western Cape.

I don’t know if you can tell, but it was a little windy at the Southern-most point of Africa!

It was a busy day for us, trying to fit in everything we wanted to see in the Capetown area.

And our first stop was the penguins – obviously!

I was tempted to hop over the fence and hold on of them.

They were so cute.

We also managed to see a couple ostriches, zebras, baboons, and some deer-like animals.

I felt like I was on a safari !

If you are looking for cheap wine, look no further. South Africa is the place to buy.

I stocked up!

I am already dreaming of the steak I had for dinner – it was perfect.

Until next time, Capetown.

Fitzgerald Smart.

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be.

There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.

We can make the best or the worst of it.

I hope you make the best of it.

And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of .

If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again. -F. Scott Fitzgerald
