Tomorrow I drop these two off at the animal shelter so they can find their very own FAMILY ! I had these two for about 4 weeks and it was very fun (as you can see) and will miss them ! Although, kinda of excited to not step on kitty litter as I walk around my room.
Fostering kittens is a great way to help out your local animal shelter. It provides a loving comfortable home until your kittens are old enough to be adopted out.
Basically = you get to play with cute kittens for a few weeks. And you are helping out the kittens by socializing them & they don’t have to be stuck in a tiny cage. WIN !
In 2012 when I was joining Emirates and moving halfway across the world , I received lots of advice.
“What are you thinking?! You can’t be serious. You don’t love your family?! And don’t want to be near them?”
“That’s a Muslim country. Aren’t you Christian? Won’t they throw you in jail?”
And I went for it.
At the end of 2016 when I said I was quitting Emirates and moving home, everyone had lots of advice:
“What are you thinking!! You can’t quit without having anything lined up. Are you crazy?!”
“You are going to be so depressed. You will regret this.”
And I went for it .
Both times , when I was joining Emirates and then quitting , people thought I was crazy.
I never regretted moving to Dubai. And I still have had not one bit of regret leaving.
I enjoyed my 4 years there.
It’s been 6 months since I moved back.
I am enjoying being home. I don’t have to fight jet lag or count down my days of when I have to leave.
And I get to spend my time with these three (and their moms!).
Three ingredients . So easy and so delish. And the cherry on top?! You can satisfy that sweet tooth with it being good for you too.
Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie
3 ripe Bananas
3c old fashion oats
1/2cup chocolate chips (sugar free or 80% dark chocolate)
Smash bananas. Add oats. Should be cookie dough consistency. Add chocolate . Scoop onto sheet and flatten. These cookies do not change shape so they can be close together on the trays.
Bake 350F 12-15 minutes
This recipe , you don’t even have to measure. Eyeballing it is easy (and quicker)! Just make sure there’s enough oats. If it’s too “wet” the texture is more banana-y and you will miss that chewiness the oats bring. But no matter what you do with this recipe , they are still yummy!
An Old Christmas tree, a couple dogs, and blooming flowers can be found in her backyard one April morning.
Music selected by Avery, 4yrs old.
(Her first choice, Sound of Music, wasn’t available . She had to settle for Taylor Swift.)
Everyone deserves a Snow Weekend away! And last weekend, Lake Tahoe was our goal. Luckily for us, this trip did, in fact, happen.
But not without the nail biting, dead-stop traffic waiting, CalTrans for updates dialing, and 2nd resort planning moments!
The previous two days brought a good amount of snow/ rain for the mountains and that resulted in mudslides and trees falling over on most highways. We stuck it out and fortune was on our side because we made it . A lot of cars did not. After waiting for previous minor mudslides/trees to be cleared from the road (4 hours worth of waiting!) a major mudslide occurred on our HWY 50 in a spot we had just passed. It would have been a little heart wrenching to be told to go home after so much time and effort had been invested in our trek!
Where most of our waiting took place. At least our view wasn’t too bad.
part of the gang
I’d say it was definitely worth it.
Loving my time home. Dubai feels like ages ago.
My two sisters and I are enjoying unemployment . Their excuse : being moms. My excuse : nothing! Ha!
And in other news , here is a video I made of our 16 year old dog Poocha. She had her usual visit to the groomers and came back with bows in her hair. It was too cute.
This Halloween I had two occasions to dress up. I have never been very excited about this holiday , I don’t know why. But I really got into it this year !
And I crashed my sisters alice in wonderland family theme.
(( I’m such a 4th wheel ! ))
I love being home .
Thinking about Drindl dresses for Oktoberfest, my yearly SEP testing coming up next week, meeting up with the sister in Dublin for the day, and registering my car for another year.
Missing foster kittens, and little nieces, sisters and baby bellies, family dinners and fires, little towns and green trees, big blue skies with puffy clouds, In n Out.
Hoping I can go to the new indoor theme park that just opened up across the
street highway soon, I can get a local tailor to make me a dress before the 20th, my next two turn around flights are easier than I think they will be, and I can be home for Christmas.
