Since I finally have wheels in Dubai, we decided to make the most of it!
Destination: Oman

Officially the Sultanate of Oman (Arabic: سلطنة عُمان Salṭanat ʻUmān), it is an Arab state in Southwest Asia, on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, where it holds a strategically important position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf. The nation is bordered by the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the southwest, and shares marine borders with Iran and Pakistan.
This trip was not thought through very well.
All we knew was that we (Renee, Kimmy, and I) wanted to go to Oman.
And to get there by car.
(We had already picked a nice hotel to be our destination. Probably the most researched thing about this trip!)
Now, I would recommend bringing at least a map, so that when your google maps on your phone stop working, it will make things a little easier. Also, have a car with air conditioning that works.
We had found ourselves lost, still an hour away from our hotel, driving from one McDonald’s to another in hopes of finding wifi. (Mc D, you really let us down when we needed you most)
Long story short, our 5 1/2 hour road trip stretched out to be 8 hours. And we were sweaty and tired by the time we made it to the hotel — but so happy. Thank God for random wifi hot spots at restaurants!
Our vacation more than made up for it. It was just perfect.
Celebratory drinks that we finally made it to the hotel !
Kimmy’s action shot!
Kayaking at 8am was the best.
Made a new friend. A Camel friend.
Boat rides and scuba diving.
It was hard to say goodbye – so different than being in Dubai ! They had mountains and blue skies with puffy clouds. And not to mention warm but not I’m-gonna-die temperatures that Dubai was having at the moment.
Can’t wait to go back!
